Today we learned that Fox 29's Bob Kelly will film his 9 a.m. hour at Kennett High School tomorrow, 9/1 The teaser and segment will celebrate our Football team, Cheerleaders and Marching Band in advance of the first home game this Friday, 9/2. I'm reaching out to make you aware that your student has been invited to participate! Football Players, Cheerleaders and Marching Band Members should report to the KHS Lobby in uniform at 8:30 a.m. and will be dismissed back to class by 10 a.m. at the latest. We recognize that some families may not wish to have their student filmed. Please know that participation is encouraged, but not required. We will assume that any student who attends has the full consent of their family. Please make sure you arrive at your sectional location ready to go at 6:00. 6:00 Sectional Time - Color Guard report to DO Field - Hornline, start in band room (make sure you have your flipbooks) for music and move to stadium - Front Ensemble report to shed area - Drumline report to snack shack. 7:30 Visual Rehearsal of Part 3 (H through J), possibly adding K 8:30 Dismissal Drum Major and Captain meeting with Mr. Whisler from 8:30 to 9:00 in the stadium. Friday, Home Football Game against Oxford High School Family Dinner! Please plan to stay and eat with the band. We will eat together when the football team clears out of the cafeteria. I'm also considering a movie in the auditorium considering it's supposed to be warm. We will be performing the Mvt. 1 and Mvt. 2. 2:45-3:00 Arrival 3:30ish Eat 4:00 optional group activity (also a great time to do homework or just relax for a little before the game) 5:45 Report to the stadium 6:30 Perform Mvt. 1 and Mvt. 2 6:50 Tunnel Up for Football Team and play Old Kennett as they run onto the field. 7:00 National Anthem on the field 9:30 Approximate end of the game 9:45/10:00 Pick-Up See you tomorrow! All of these changes have to be immensely frustrating for you and on behalf of KCSD, I truly apologize.
Football changing their opponent a few days before a game is EXTREMELY rare. Upper Dublin High School is having trouble with their lights and had to cancel their first home game of the season. Conveniently enough, Wissahickon High School is their next-door rival and they happened to be available to play Kennett this Friday. This was something completely out of KCSD control and apologize if this creates any additional hardship. We have inside space in the event of a thunderstorm so regardless of the weather, you must report for camp. (800 Loch Alsh Ave, Fort Washington, PA 19034) This is a Pep Band event. We will not be bringing the full production to Fort Washington. With this being said, your only required uniform is spirit wear. A Kennett t-shirt and shorts with comfortable shoes is ideal. The show shirts will not be ready. All members of the band are expected to attend football games unless their assigned staff would like to use the time to rehearse at Kennett High School. Arrive 3:00 - 3:30 3:40 Load Box Truck 3:50 Load Buses (make sure you have snacks or money for concessions) 4:00 Depart for Upper Dublin High School 6:00 Arrive at Upper Dublin High School 7:05 Kick-Off Half Time we will watch the UDHS Band 3rd Quarter to 2:00 minutes remaining you get a break. 9:30-10:00 End of Game 10:00 Load Box Truck 10:30 Depart UDHS 11:30pm - 12:00am is the estimated return to Kennett High School (I know it's late, this isn't optional) On Monday, August 22nd we will be performing for the KHS Faculty at 8:30am (this is a revision from yesterday's email and I sincerely apologize. In the past breakfast for the teachers was from 8:30 to 9:00 with Opening Ceremony at 9:00 and our performance at around 9:10. KCSD moved the meeting up 30 minutes so we need to make adjustments as well. Again, I'm super sorry this wasn't clearer.
This event will be in FULL UNIFORM. You must arrive in FULL UNIFORM, please do not arrive and change at KHS.
