Thank you again for your patience while I sort out some significant details for the 2023 marching season. Due to issues related entirely to technology, we cannot have our 2023 Launch Meeting tomorrow night (Thursday, April 13th). Instead, we will be meeting in the KHS auditorium on Monday, April 17th from 7pm to 8pm. I tried to push later into week, unfortunately there are just too many conflicts on the KCSD calendar. This meeting is for for both students and parents. Please attend the meeting if you are available. If you are not available you must contact me on Discord or via email (awhisler@...). Topics: 7:00-7:40 KHS Auditorium with Mr. Whisler
Google Form: Please reply YES or NO so I can get an accurate headcount for Friday.
The Kennett Square Light Parade will be on Friday, November 25th. I will not be attending this parade. TJ Suchta, Lily, and Thomas are in charge. The parade starts at Kennett High School. Report time is 5:00. The parade proceeds up Broadstreet and turns left on State. The parade ends just before The Market. Buses cost about $1000 for a small simple parade on a holiday weekend so... no buses. With this being said, transportation will be similar to Bayard Estates. The difference with this one is that you should have your ride park at the end of the route (near The Market) so you don't have to walk back to KHS. If you are in town, please commit to this parade. Uniform: Band jackets, uniform hats and hat wraps. Black pants or jeans. NO PLUMES. Those of you that need your hat back, please be kind to the small ensemble room. After the parade, the hats go right back and please make it look nice. Please do not take your hats home. Color Guard and Front Ensemble can wear GREEN HATS, WHITE HATES, woolen caps, ear muffs just under no circumstance can you wear RED SANTA HATS, it apparently confuses the children. Again, NO RED HATS. We have swing flags and candy canes, again, you decide. The banner isn't available so Mano or Sarah can play the sleigh bells, everyone else can find something from the toy chest. Battery powered lights and other light up accessories are encouraged. You are NOT PERMITTED to tape or glue anything to the uniform hats or hat wraps. If you can manage to use the plume sockets without damaging the hats, that's okay. PLEASE DO NOT DAMAGE THE HATS. Be creative, please be careful. Report Time: 5:00 (drop off/park near band room, do not park in the lower lot) Hornline and Drumline need to read through the parts in the band room with TJ We will be playing "Sleigh Ride" from the marching band website. It's cutime, please take a look before Friday. Want to listen?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAxyCieDAVQ&list=TLPQMjExMTIwMjIaF6dwb3ieSQ&index=1 Staging 5:40 in lower lot (think Homecoming Parade) Step Off: 6:00 We are first, follow the police car. (Cadence twice, play once) Repeat End: 6:30ish Pickup at The Market You must return your hat to KHS before you go home (or return it on Monday after Thanksgiving, I will be going to KHS to check next week) Thanks everyone and have a Happy Thanksgiving!! Mr. Whisler After looking at the weather forecast and talking to the Rustin Band Director, we are going to the game this evening. I truly appreciate your patience. Optics are very important; if Rustin's band attends, we will be there. If they cancel or conditions deteriorate, we have the option to leave early.
Possibilities: Current Plan: Report at 4:00, leave at 5:00 Pep Band at Playoff Game Return at 10:00pm Possible Plan B: Report at 4:00, leave at 5:00 Pep Band at Playoff Game Leave early due to weather, pickup time TBD Possible Plan C: Report at 4:00, leave at 5:00 Pep Band at Playoff Game Arrive at Rustin, stay on the buses, return to the Kennett due to weather. Return time TBD. Pickup TBD Possible Plan D: Report at 4:00 Game is postponed due to weather and we do not leave Kennett High School. Pickup TBD Possible Plan E: No Game This notification will go out by 1:00 today. Again, thanks for your patience. This kind of stuff is another perk of the job... Mr. Whisler We will not be rehearsing in the morning. The weather is supposed to be unpleasant in the morning and clear up by the afternoon. I appreciate your patience with this process. Cavalcade of Bands decides performance times based up a random drawing. We knew we were performing in the afternoon, just not exactly when.
